Occassionally I buy extruded already anodised aluminium sections from my local B&Q. What they have in stock on any day is a bit of a lottery. Does anyone know of another supplier besides B&Q and Wickes?

On the same subject, I know pre anodised sheet is available but finding a supplier for anything less than a full sheet is not easy.

Many years ago I recall ready finished sheet being sold by architectural metal suppliers, also I have been told that the control line model aircraft fraternity use thin (0.3mm 'ish) hard anodised sheet to make wings but my searches have been fruitless.

Try Homebase, They have various sections for steel, brass, alloy and plastic. They also have a stock of sheet, mostly alloy in about 18" x 2ft sizes of different designs, perforated, plain etc. Cost is a bit high but if you only need a small piece it is better than having to buy a whole 8 x 4 sheet. Also try local motor factors for alloy and steel sheet in small sizes

Hi Ian

What sort of thickness and size do you need ? I have some small pieces of anodised. and a few sheets of very thin stuff as used for printing, This stuff has some sort of blue finish on one side. The printing stuff is brand new,and was sent to the scrapyard by mistake, but as the edges were damaged in transit it became scrap anyway so stayed there for me to rescue.

I could use any thickness, I have used 1.5, 2.0, 3mm etc in the past, in fact I still have about a 2" square bit of 4mm thick sheet left which is really hard and flat (almost like aluminium plate) although was just a front panel on a piece of test gear.

I did have some of the 'thin blue on one side' ali sheet (no idea where I acquired it) but I used it to make a very small enclosure. I would certainly like to get some more.

For very thin aluminium sheet, if curving doesn't matter greatly, cool drink or beer can material used to be .006", if recall correctly
