| 186 forum posts | Can anyone run thru how you go about posting a picture into a posting. I have tried all sorts of ways but only manage to put a link to a picture, I actually want to display one of my pictures from my photobucket account. I used to have no trouble, but they have changed all the software and that doesn't make any sense at all.

Hi John Upload your picture to an album, click on the camera icon, select the appropriate album and picture and Bob's your uncle! PS. Still having trouble with my Scott engine - persistant yellow flame despite changing jet to recommended size. Regards Norman Edited By NJH on 05/05/2012 23:39:26 |

| 1935 forum posts 179 photos | Hi John, To post from an online picture source (I use PhotoBox here), copy the 'image location' from the provider. Io insert the image here, click on the 'square' picture icon next to the 'camera' icon, not the 'camera' icon itself, in the tools menu above the compose box and then paste the location url into the 'URL' field. You must set the 'width' to about 350 pixels otherwise the picture can be distorted (example below) as the software does not alter the size to suit the window and the picture get distorted vertically. That is how I inserted this picture from Phtobox:
If you don't set the width this could be the result, which is commonly seen in pictures posted here (Original width is 600 px):
Hope that helps Best regards, Terry |

Thanks I had been wondering how it was done! Its a bit 'wobbly' though? Maybe my original was not too clever! Bri Edited By Boiler Bri on 06/05/2012 07:11:27 |

Moderator 2984 forum posts 354 photos | As Terry says at the top of the reply box click the picture icon its the one on the left here Then just paste the direct link from photobucket into the url box where the curser will be flashing away. However you do not need to resize the image, it may come up in the reply a little distorted or reduced in size but if the image is clicked it will come up at whatever size the original was. So no need to faff about resizing anything. Click on any of the images in this thread of mine to see how they come up full size The other option if its just one of your COC sketched is to add it to an album here rather than clutter your photobucket with junk, thats how I added the pic above. You then click the camera icon to insert from your ME album J Edited By JasonB on 06/05/2012 07:19:22 |

This is my effort, if it works, many thanks guys, if it doesn't, back to the drawing board. Seems to have worked, but I had to remove the [IMG] from before and after the URL when I put it into the box, it just gave nothing otherwise.

| 186 forum posts | Norman, I have no idea where you are going wrong. All I can suggest is you check the insert up the pipe to make sure it has the correct sized hole in it and is the correct distance from the end of the tube, and make sure the air holes aren't too small. Also try moving the jet backwards and forwards in the tube, in front of the air inlet holes. It definitely looks to be you haven't enough air being mixed with the gas. Except for the number of holes I made in my rose (and that shouldn't change much of anything) I made mine exactly as per instructions.
If you still get stuck, email me.

Moderator 2984 forum posts 354 photos | John, instead of copying the IMG code url from photobucket copy what they call the "direct link" this is the one that starts http . You can then paste that straight into the box

| 1935 forum posts 179 photos | HI Jason, I don't see typing in 3 numbers into a field while insertting a url as 'faffing about'. It's about as simple as can be. The problem is with clicking onto a picture to see a full size image is that it navigates away from the original website and there is the faffing about to get back by clocking the 'back' button. I find that a real pain iof there are a lot of images in a thread. I often just want to see a small image in postings as I am reading or scanning a thread, not keep clicking back and forth between pages. I think that it is simply good web manners to post a picture correctly Regards Terry

Moderator 2984 forum posts 354 photos | One problem with just putting small images into the thread is you can't always see the detail particularly if they are drawings as the site pixelates them when the image is reduced. By leaving them at full size it gives those that want to follow the thread in detail the option of a larger image if they choose to click it, if someone else is just following along but not that interested then they can just look at the image as it appears on the screen
Take this image as an example, not all the detail shows until you click to make it larger had this been reduced when loaded onto the site you could not read it. Also teh likes of John and me post on several forums most of which will support the larger images so we size them once when uploading to photobucket or what have you which is far easier than resizing for each individual forum. | 1020 forum posts 81 photos | Jason I agree with you here - I like the facility to click on an image that interests me to get a closer view. If one has no interest in the image then don't click! N |

814 forum posts 219 photos | Hi, I also agree with Jason that the option to click to a larger picture is preferable, one doesn't have to so if the picture in the thread is satisfactory to them, but my eyes are not getting any younger and a larger picture usually gives better detail. | 1935 forum posts 179 photos | Hi Jason, I think we are talking about two different principles, you don't have to resize the actual image to post it, you merely have to set the width to appear in the posting when pasting the url in creating the post. That does not affect the original image. Also it doesn't stop clicking to the original image. It's not rocket science. I am not against clicking to larger images when relevant but I would prefer not to have to squint at some of the very distorted images that do appear here when scanning posts. I really don't see any problem with simply setting the width. Try it. Regards Terry |

| 186 forum posts | About 99% of all my pictures in my bucket account are already cropped to 800x600, and I have found that is acceptable on all sites, including this one, by the looks of my picture above.
If I want to see a larger version of the picture or if my eyes are a bit tired for the size of text shown on a web page, then I just use ctrl/mouse wheel to enlarge the page to whatever I want. Much easier than going elsewhere to view it.

Moderator 2984 forum posts 354 photos | I'm not quite sure where your distortion is comming from Terry. If I post a tall picture this site displays it at a set width automatically and adjusts the height to suit like this
If I also post a short stubby photo the width is displayed the same like this
In neither case have I had to adjust the size as the forum does that itself when posting and if the person reading wants to see a larger image they can click either if they so wish. Maybe when you are altering the width it does not keep the same proportions?
J Edit thats interesting as now they won't enlarge but they do in teh thread I linked to above?? Edited By JasonB on 06/05/2012 17:45:21 Edited By JasonB on 06/05/2012 17:46:53 |
