I came across a notice recently, which I think sums up the ability of some of these men of former years, and I post it below. It could serve as our motto.!

We,the willing

Led by the unknowing

Are doing the impossible

For the ungreatful

We have done so much

With so little,for so long

We are now qualified to do

almost anything,with nothing !

My copy of this is in a sorry state, but I,m about to get a few new copies printed to hang up in a few workshops,on the grounds that

IT SAYS IT ALL !!!

thumbs up

Another little item that did the rounds, possibly still doing it...

... The impossible can be done on 1/2 a shift overtime... miracles can be done on a Sunday ( double time )...

We're all timers, just a matter of when we become old, and who cares, old can be cool.

Miracles performed daily. The impossible may take a little longer.

Hourly rate for work done for customers: $10

If you watch: $20

If you help: $30

My favourite: "If youth knew how and age were able".

(Trouble is I missed the time when it was optimum for both variables)

"“If a cluttered desk is a sign of a cluttered mind, of what, then, is an empty desk a sign?”"

Laurence J. Peter (as in the Peter Principle) - not Einstein as I have now discovered.

In the same context... if you want a job doing quickly, give it to the guy with the cluttered desk...

George.

Anything can be done if you throw enough money at it!

I always give customers 3 prices, normal price, price if they want yesterday and a price if they are not in a hurry!devil

Amen to that. They spent the two previous OS's getting back to where they should be.

And if it can be put off 'til tomorrow, why not put it off a bit more? And never do it?

Regards

Richard.

The greatest living philosopher is Homer Simpson. He says it all:

“If something’s hard to do, then it’s not worth doing.”

“I believe that children are our future. Unless we stop them now.”

“To alcohol! The cause of, and solution to, all of life's problems.”

and, for Daily Mail readers, “Old people don't need companionship. They need to be isolated and studied so it can be determined what nutrients they have that might be extracted for our personal use.”

Saw this on a cycling jersey - "Age and guile will always beat youth and enthusiasm". Seen similar words in other places too.

I spent most of my working life as a Marine Engineer. The above message often appeared on the workshop notice board on many of the ships I worked on.
