Sinsheim comes to Ascot

The International Model Engineer Exhibition is renowned throughout the world for its displays of the finest examples of model engineering. Now, in our 101st year, we are adding a new dimension.

A very special attraction

We have reached an agreement with the most popular Exhibition in Europe at Sinsheim in Germany to bring some 2.5km of its world-famous 5in. gauge ground level track to Ascot. It will provide:

More than 1km of straight running

Scale equivalent of 8km of parallel tracks

Probably the longest track in the UK

The only main line running for 5in. gauge

Turntables

Traversers

Passing loops

You  can enjoy the Sinsheim experience in many ways

You can relax in the famous Ascot Grandstand seats and watch the action

You can walk under the racetrack to the railway track

You can take a shuttle bus from the grandstand to the track

Our bus

With so much going on this year we will operate a shuttle bus. It will take in:

Ascot station

Ascot grandstand entrance

The Sinsheim track

Caravan, camping and Campervan area

Ascot Locomotive Society

Bring your loco

You are most welcome to bring locos (steam, electric, I/C, even pedal power) wagons and carriages to run on the track. However, you must book in advance, and have suitable paper work. For entry details, down load the pdf here.
